As we are starting to see glimpses of summer, I'm sure a lot of us are taking a close look at our summer closet and trying to see what we can muster up that might still be suitable for the 2018 season. I am definitely no exception to this! For some reason, warm seasons just seem to sneak up on me and suddenly my always safe, comfy cardigans make absolutely no sense in the sweltering heat! But instead of looking at my clothes from last year (and the year before, annnnnd the year before that) with absolute dread, I see an opportunity to discover my style yet again and start fresh with a new season.
Whilst browsing through magazines and stores trying to find my new summer look, I have found many pieces that I'm ecstatic to try out! Below are a couple of pieces that will definitely be on my shopping list and if I'm lucky, in my closet! I'm all about staying trendy and utilizing staple pieces that are in my (and your) existing wardrobe and can easily be transitioned to another season. Look for my tips and tricks on how to style these pieces in to multiple outfits for various seasons and occasions.
*Disclaimer* This is not a sponsored post and in no way am I trying to sell these brands to you. These are just pieces that I am currently admiring, but I still like to give credit where credit is due. Now, let's get to the good stuff!
PAPER BAG PANTS
I must say that I am OBSESSED with these pants. As the weather in Manitoba is still having a hard time figuring out its #moods, pants like these are the PERFECT solution. Their material is light enough to keep you cool in warm weather, but will give you enough coverage in case you get caught in a surprise cold spell. Light, breezy and stylish, these pants are at the top of my shopping list this season! What's also great about them is that they can be paired with the most simple of shirts (that you probably already own!) because they already have the flair right in them with the ruffle top, cute tie-up belt and maybe even a print if you're feeling wild! If you're looking for something a bit more dressed-up, these bad boys also come in different materials and more put together styles, making them also perfect for work. I can't say enough about how excited I am for these pants. Period.
I'm usually a bit leery when it comes to jumpsuits, for some reason they just DO NOT seem to suit my body type AT ALL. I see women of all shapes and sizes looking #fierce in their jumpsuits and yet, I can't seem to ever pull them off. I often have flashbacks to when rompers started getting popular again while I was in high school, being in the change room trying one on and leaving with complete confusion as to why anyone would want to wear this thing in public! All I could see was the elastic NEVER hitting me in the right spot on my waist and the shorts ALWAYS being too short. But since then, I have been more and more accepting of them and have faith that rompers and jumpsuits have been perfected for all body shapes. I can't wait to try them out! What I love about the strapless jumpsuits, like the one pictured below, is that it can easily be paired with a solid blazer for a work style or a light, flowy cardigan for something more casual, with no straps getting in the way.
I am super pumped to go shopping for accessories to compliment my looks. This is an area that I am currently lacking in and I could probably do a whole post about accessories I'm dreaming about (which I just might!). When shopping for accessories I look for pieces that are simple, chic, and easily transitional to other outfits (of course! See a theme?). Minimalist and geometric shapes have been really trending lately, and I adore these styles. I have also been lusting over hats lately and would love to have one in my closet. Not only are they cute but they also protect from the harsh UV rays that can occur at this time of the year!
